The Gewurztraminer history
Gewurztraminer originates in the “Tramin” village in Italian Alto-Adige. It is the particularly aromatic selection of Traminer. The passage of Traminer in Gewurztraminer is an Alsatian success, where it reaches an optimal quality, incomparable with anything else.
Tasting of Gewurztraminer
Gewurztraminer develops a genuine aromatic pallet : flavours of flowers, exotic fruits and spices make a powerful and complex wine. The freshness of Gewurztraminer remains very discrete. It is firmly structured with a spicy finale. As the grape allows to be collected when overripe, Gewurztraminer is perfect for the Late Harvest and “Sélection de Grains Nobles”.
Food and wine pairing
Gewurztraminer accompanies exotic food, strong cheeses like the local munster or the roquefort, and naturally “foie gras”. It also works wonderfully with fruit deserts.
Gewurztraminer can often be found on well-exposed soils, marl-limestone, granite and sandy clay.
